Hot Rod Drags

Just got off fired up about the drags after to talking to Tim_D 2007 Pics....

Friday 28 August 2009

After missing out with riding with the Timmy_D and Dave_D last week, due to what now appears to be wore head bearing(thought it was tyre pressure, still temporary fix in place, another reason to do a strip down this winter) a quick back road thrash to The Bath and a walk and we came across this beauty, Honda 125 racer. What would you classify this as classic, street fighter? should we care, why do we always have to give it a tag?. Its a bike built by a guy who likes to be different, fast, stylish. You might question fast, well what are comparing it to? standard bike of the time or a ultra modern 125? Why do we call a 32' flat head a hot rod? it aint fast. Odgie picks on this in this months CC were he asks the same question what is a hot rod, the 32 flat head or the kid down the street tuning the sack of his Corsa. Well to me its the Corsa Kid he's living it just like the guys were in the 30's and 40's.. some time too much talk and not enough riding..............
So classify this Nico's guzzi, what a mint picture, you can feel which way he's going. Nico's trade mark tyres just make it stand out, no conforming here, I'll be glad for the man when its on the road, its a long time since we have rode together and its just another reason to head into Derbyshire.

Just love the bike and the black and white pic, air through the frame in total contrast to the usual crap thats hung on and around the frame.

Proper Chopper? Zeb mid 80's on a 400 4, look at that seat. I rode this bike after we built it and it nearly killed me!!

Triumph Racers...........................

Upset next door to night during the Wednesday Club grinding session we had the car chassis outside grinding hammering to get the crap off. Boy was he mad, his main beef was the garage door was open if had bother to look properly he would have seen we were outside he said it was like an industrial site!!!!!

These pics inspired again by Loveless, Triumph racer I love this rear mud guard pad set up.

Lovely little? pre uint you can make these really nice, standerd frame, front end with a rigid oil tank and 60s style sprung seat on shcoks. Bantam tank and gold leaf Triumph, running standard 18" rear and non standard 21" front.

Looks like a R65 with mono conversation, no idea about the tank?

Reminds me of my 6T that I rode around in the late 80s!!!! cool as

Japanese Sportster

Just surfing the other night and came across http://shin883.com/ a Japanese site devoted to sportster and sportster meets, makes you think if we could do it here in England. Still we would probably get flash paint jobs and leather !
Great bobbed style with springer front end and 16" wheels running old rubber, chopped rear guard. Mint blacked out visor.
Sportster? 4 speed T

Iron head racer, small light, drums, ally oil tank looks like it should be an XR but doesnt pretend to be one, a true street bike.

XR tank in green looks just right, only in japn would they but 8" risers on XR copy, mint just love it

I like the way the holes are taken on the timing case

wait and see

Belgium Sportster

Bobbed cafe racer iron head, rear guard chopped with cut and shut struts, AMF tank and jap brakes. This was one of 6 german bikes, you can just make out the shovel front end in the distance. This bare metal iron head makes me think of tim_dogs sporty, if he had kept hold of it this is one of the ways it could have gone, this bike is not small but this lad is big! again in the town just riding thro.

I love this front end clean and lean

late evo in XLCR style

You can work this one out

Belgium Saturday

On Saturday the town is only open for bikes, there is a circuit to ride around either just visiting the bars or showing off, we just spoke to this French guy while he sat at a pavement cafe drinking an espresso, mint hand change shovel, open belt, spun tank and dished rear sprocket, running a classic 21/16 set up, lace paint helmet black shirt blue jeans and bumpers. This chop is just spot on right down the the mustang tank. No one expect us wore helmets when riding between the camp site and the town.

Belgium Sunday

Swedish style German chopper. This is the proper job. Single bag, stroker engine with a Mag. It was pissing down in rain. Every kick he would make a small adjust to either mag or carb. No cut offs here, gortex trousers, white racing leather and full face helmets he got nothing to prove, the hand shift and STP sticker just finish to off. (Babe in the wet tee shirt and 80s mop cleaning her teeth and a realization of Sunday morning to this shot)
