Being born and bred in Derbyshire I knew about the Pentrich revolution, but didnt really know the details, so a quick google resulted in a two interesting facts, the first the failed revolution in 1817 in which the three ring leaders were hanged and a further 14 transported to Australia, The second was the Rock and Blues which when googled didnt turn out any real results. Workshop time
I'm really in to prep'ing the shovel before riding and its taking some looking after, I cant be doing with button and go, all the tools are lined up no the shelf, rear sprocket check(it comes a bit loose), oil level check( its eating oil, job for the winter), clutch adjustment(worn plates), charging plug( it pushed out, see earlier post), and of course the oily rag treatment, a good clean and then round with the oily rag, there's nothing like getting your fingers into it.

Barber State
There are not many barber shops these days its all hair dressers. I don't want my hair dressing I want it cut and I want the banter with it. The early events of the week dominated the three chairs, I chose to listen and comment rather than drive the conversation, there was one line here and that was the hard one against the those that caused the damaged, what had united even the kids against their own. The following day I sit at my desk streaming news to my ipod and see the police kicking in doors and dragging kids out, when the day before they stood and watched. That's a second hand comment from my son who was working in London and saw some of the events first hand. We go from a passive voyeur state to an Orwellian one in less than 24 hours

I'm not too sure about tattoo's
or rather tattoo events, I dont regret going for one minute but you can sort of get blown away by the whole scene, to me its seems very fashionable to get Sailor Jerry or "cartoon style" tattoos(I dont have a right of passage to say ink yet). Now there is nothing wrong with that for some people, and Im not knocking any tattooists, may be Im just finding may way. I didnt know any of the tattooists names, they are not known to me. May be Im looking for that something special that "Iron Horse- Tim Blog" that AWOL. Well I've started I've got the frame, the engine the wheels will follow - thanks Ben
Alternative Way of life
Me and Tim had this conversation about Iron Horse its effect on our way of life it didnt alter the way we were, it realised that we were not alone, 15 odd years ago AWOL was there, and in the words of issue one .........because...the sheer enjoyment of riding them, building them..living with them day in day out. We get wet when it rains..push them when they break.. and skin our knuckles working on them.
We're all the same, every last one of us.

Dressed to the nines
late home but time to ride before wednesday club opens, usual route and at quart to seven I'm splitting lanes on the a38, as I stop at the lights a lamby pulls, guys about my age, dressed to the nines, I'm in my scruffs oily hands from adjusting the chain, nods and respect given, 50 years ago it would have been a different ending, straight out of a B movie.
WDC and Mr Gear*head fitting the proto ignition system to the triumph, next week with luck it will be running again, we're not bothered its a focal point, rest of the boys are listening to Gordie giving tales of thrashing(corn) with a steam driven engine up on Johno's farm. Oh yeah and the Japanese girl with the kunck, well me and her split lanes when it gets dark, she always in front just out of sight but the roar of her engine keeps me going........

Scarred for life the time is right
Scarred for life the time is right. I meet up with Ben at the loveless HQ four months ago and showed him some ideas that I had, some pictures of tattoos to give the idea but mainly drawing and paintings that I had done. Some rough some detailed. I wanted him in on this, I wasnt just going turn up and say I been thinking about this and give him a blank white canvas, it had to be a joint effort, an experience to enjoy over the next years. A few weeks before the appointment I drop of the detailed work so he would have time to drawn them up. Well when I arrived he had been up most of the night sketching my dream into reality, he actually said he thought at one point he had taken on to much, but it was spot on, I didnt make any changes, the next four hours went like a click of your fingers, a laugh a joke tea colour and little pain. Two days later its was a different matter, after the first 20 seconds my battered skin could feel every drag of the nine, most of the next session was still a laugh a joke and tea, but I had to have an outer body experience to endure, I put my eyes in the corner of the room behind Ben so that I could see it develop..... the rest is just pain..the hosue of pain. Still I had my fun when Tim_dog turned up I ran over ( cheers mate) and stayed to watch the needle in the "other arm". back in October cant wait!
