Linkert
Until Glens unexpected departure we had ridden a 1-2, 1-2 formation, the staggered riding giving all visibility. Now we were 1-2-3, Indian, 45 and the shovel, in order of speed or should that be slowest first, Andy would be the first to tell you the '41 500cc Indian was pretty gutless, and was left for dead against the superior 45. The mikuni powered shovel playing rear gunner, exceeding the flatheads in very way including fuel consumption. Three bikes, two mud guards, rain? I hope not.

Linkert
Well 90 miles in first casualty, the pan, Glen had spent time and money sorting the pan, we had stopped for petrol and just getting warm with the rising sun, when we get the signal to pull in, Glens looking down at his clutch foot and shaking the oil off. It looks like a leaking front base gasket.....further inspection and we see a small crack and when we wipe away the oil a big crack, horizontal from the front mount through the inspection plug hole to the rear mount.....game over
Linkertattacks 2013
I've been in this game a long time, and a bike show is a bike show, but once I got confirmation for linkert it felt a bit different, I'd prep'd the bike a long time ago and had been riding weekends and nights without problem, until the weekend before the party, so it was with some caution that I started the shovel on the second kick at 4.30am on Thursday morning, rolling into the service station 20 minutes later to be met by Glen on his Panhead, judging by his state of hyper active-ness I think he had been drinking coffee all night, Andy and Luke followed minutes later looking like they had just rolled out of a Swedish biker flick, this was it I had to start the fucking shovel again, one slow punch and its running, same with Andy and Luke. We secretly laugh under our scarfs as Glens coffee fuelled body jumps up and down for ten minutes.........we're off......
